These services range from highly Intensive Residential Intermediate Care Facilities for Mentally Retarded (ICF/MR) to less Intensive Residential Services (waiver homes) including Group Homes. Supportive Residential Services are also included and normally do not involve overnight care but may be provided on an hourly basis.  An essential component is assistance in developing or enhancing the following skills:

  • toileting
  • task learning
  • environmental and behavioral skill
  • medication management
  • transportation
Western Tidewater Community Services Board currently operates seven residential facilities (six located in the City of Suffolk and one located in the county of Isle of Wight).
