Wounded Warriors

Virginia Wounded Warrior Program

The Virginia Wounded Warrior Program (VWWP) was created by the General Assembly in 2008 to ensure that veterans and their families have access to adequate and timely assessments, treatment and specialized support services and to assist veterans and their families on their road to recovery and healing from the effects of stress related injuries (such as post traumatic stress disorder) or traumatic brain injuries.

Western Tidewater Community Services Board is part of the Region 5 Wounded Warriors Program, which is one of five regional coalitions of community services boards working in partnership to improve and expand services to our local area veterans and their family members. It is operated by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services in cooperation with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, and the Department of Rehabilitative Services.
