Central Admissions Specialist

Western Tidewater CSB is seeking a Central Admissions Specialist under our Service Access team.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Central Admissions Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing incoming referrals for crisis center admission, ensuring that individuals in acute mental health emergencies receive timely and appropriate care. Your expertise will be essential in assessing the urgency and appropriateness of referrals, coordinating admissions, and supporting the seamless integration of individuals into crisis residential services.

Responsibilities and Duties for Central Admissions Specialist:
  • Review incoming referrals from various sources, including hospitals, mental health professionals, law enforcement, and community agencies.
  • Assess the urgency and appropriateness of referrals based on established criteria and clinical guidelines.
  • Determine the level of crisis intervention required and prioritize admissions accordingly.
  • Evaluate mental health status, risk factors, and immediate safety concerns to inform admission decisions.
  • Collaborate with crisis residential clinicians to ensure comprehensive understanding of each individual’s needs.
  • Facilitate the admission process for individuals requiring crisis center services, including scheduling intake assessments and coordinating transportation if necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with referring parties to provide updates on admission status and next steps.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and consent forms are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with crisis intervention team members to implement immediate care plans and safety protocols.
Qualifications and Skills for Central Admissions Specialist:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  • Previous experience in crisis intervention, mental health assessment, or emergency services preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mental health disorders, crisis management principles, and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact compassionately with individuals in crisis.
