Peer Recovery Specialist-Peer Led Wellness Home

Western Tidewater CSB is seeking a Certified Peer Recovery Specialists for our Peer Led Wellness Home.

General Responsibilities for Peer Recovery Specialist:
  • Provide lived experience with recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges to support others navigating their own journeys.

  • Function as a role model to peers

  • Exhibit competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills, serve as a consumer advocate, and provide consumer information and peer support for consumers in outpatient and inpatient settings

  • Offer trauma-informed, person-centered, and culturally competent peer support in both structured and flexible environments.

  • Foster empowerment, mutuality, and self-determination in alignment with the core values of peer respites.

  • Collaborate with individuals to co-create goals, coping strategies, and community connections based on the Individual Service Plan (ISP).

  • Work within home-like, non-clinical settings such as the PLWS program, which emphasizes voluntary engagement, peer leadership, and community-based supports.

Qualifications and Skills for Peer Recovery Specialist:
  • Be a certified Peer Recovery Specialist

  • Hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable DMV record

  • Experience in using various computer software applications and/or Electronic Health Record (Preferred)
