Western Tidewater Community Service Board is seeking Full-Time Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (Residential Counselor I) positions for our Residential Homes!
General Responsibilities for Qualified Intellectual Disability Counselor I:
- Assist with consumer service plans related to identified needs and goals
- Assist consumers in gaining access to appropriate medical, psychiatric, social, educational, vocational, and other supports and services
- Assisting clients with ADL’s
- Participating on an interdisciplinary team
- Provide consumer training/reinforcement
- Advocate on behalf of consumer, family and providers
- Monitor/assess service delivery
- Behavior management and crisis intervention
Qualifications and Skills for Counselor I:
- Must be a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (Willing to hire and provide training & mentoring to those that meet educational requirement; however, lack the work experience):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services (Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or other related Human Services areas of study) OR
- One year of experience working directly with individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities with the credentials as a doctor of medicine or osteopathy licensed in the state of Virginia or a Registered Nurse
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable DMV record at the time of hire
