At Western Tidewater CSB, we know that wellness is an integral part and outcome of all Behavioral Health. We passionately strive to support, connect, improve and assist individual, family and community wellness by offering a comprehensive array of strategies; all proven to reduce the challenges and adversity of substance use, mental illness and risk-taking behaviors, that can lead to negative impacts on an individual, to a community as a whole.
Through activities such as training & education, community presentations, groups, tools, item distribution and connection to services, our prevention team is reducing risk factors, fostering protective factors and increasing positive Behavioral Health outcomes in our community.
Through advocacy, assessment and collaborative community partnerships, we aim to prevent crisis and promote wellness for all of our diverse communities.

ACES
Adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs, are potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood. ACEs are linked to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance use problems in adolescence and adulthood and can be prevented with care.
MHFA
Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. MHFA training is offered for youth and adults in the community.

The goal of the WTCSB Community Coalition is to promote wellness through connection, collaboration, and education within the communities of Western Tidewater.
Strong African American Families (SAAF) Breaking Bread Together
Designed for youth and their caregivers, SAAF improves familial relationships while helping young people avoid risky and dangerous behaviors.
Nurturing Parenting Programs (NPP)
NPP are free, family-based parenting programs designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglecting parenting and child-rearing practices.
