Black History Month Highlight – Wall Street Cafe Inc.

Feb 6, 2023 | Community Announcements

Forward, Together with western tidewater community services board

In honor of Black History Month, Western Tidewater Community Services Board would like to spotlight Black-owned local businesses in our community and to show them our love and support. This week we are highlighting Food and Entertainment through Wall Street Cafe Inc.

Wall Street Cafe is a locally owned coffee shop here in Suffolk, Virginia. The cafe is owned by two couples, Domenck & LaKita Epps and Chris & Danita Hayes. Wall Street Cafe is just not about coffee but rather community and collaboration.

The name Wall Street Cafe is a nod to the Greenwood section of Tulsa, Oklahoma dubbed “Black Wall Street” where local African American citizens opened over 100 businesses and supported each other until they became an affluent area known for its wealth. Opening its first location during the pandemic in October of 2020 and expanding and opening a second location in March of 2022, WSC strives to be a staple in the local community. Patrons can visit and enjoy coffee and delicious food. We allow the community to display their talents through various avenues and events such as Chess Nights, Open Mic Nights, and artists can inquire about hanging artwork to get exposure and more.
