Urgent Care for Mental Health

When a mental health crisis arises, immediate support can make all the difference. A Crisis Receiving Center (CRC) is a safe, welcoming place where individuals can receive urgent care for mental health and substance use challenges—no appointment necessary.

What is a Crisis Receiving Center?

A CRC functions like an urgent care clinic, but specifically for mental health needs. It provides a calm, supportive environment for individuals in crisis, offering rapid assessment, stabilization, and connections to ongoing care. Unlike emergency rooms, which can be overwhelming and crowded, CRCs focus entirely on mental health and substance use support in a setting designed for healing.

Who We Help

The Crisis Receiving Center serves anyone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis—whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling with suicidal thoughts, or need a safe space to regain stability. We provide compassionate, judgment-free support to ensure you receive the help you need.

Our Services

At Western Tidewater’s CRC, we offer:

  • Crisis Stabilization: Immediate intervention to help individuals regain emotional balance.
  • 24/7 Walk-In Support: No appointment needed—help is available any time, day or night.
  • Mental Health Assessments: Professional evaluations to determine the best course of care.
  • Short-Term Crisis Care: Individuals can stay up to 23 hours in a safe, supportive setting.
  • Peer Support Specialists: People with lived experience offering guidance and encouragement.
  • Connection to Ongoing Services: Assistance in finding therapy, medication management, and community resources.
  • Substance Use Support: Immediate help for those experiencing withdrawal or seeking recovery options.

You’re Not Alone—Help is Here

If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our Crisis Receiving Center is here to provide immediate, compassionate support—because no one should have to face a crisis alone.
