MARCUS Alert and Community Paramedicine Program
The Marcus co-response team is a service that will be dispatched through the Suffolk Police Department Emergency Communication Center. The team will respond to Suffolk citizens experiencing a mental health crisis and work to limit law enforcement interaction.
This is a shared, innovative partnership between Western Tidewater Community Services Board and Suffolk Fire & Rescue. The mission of MARC (Medical Access and Resources for the Community) is to collaborate with local partners to identify and address healthcare gaps for vulnerable populations in Suffolk.
The program aims to provide high-quality, patient-centered care and will also create a mobile co-response team with the Western Tidewater Community Services Board (WTCSB) to respond to Marcus Alert calls and improve mental health responses.
The co-response team is composed of a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained paramedic and a Western Tidewater CSB clinician who will address mental health crises.
To enhance the capabilities, and to better serve our community and citizens, MARC (Medical Access and Resources for the Community) evolved with the mission to respond to community needs more effectively.
This is a shared, innovative partnership between Western Tidewater Community Services Board and Suffolk Fire & Rescue.
